Disappointing performance from Pablo Torres whom I picked precisely because he was doing these Spanish races.

I pity the fools who didn't pick Kron.
I think his result yesterday was actually alright and I didnt expect much from these first races at all, but each to his own.

I don't know. The result itself isn't that bad, but I thought these were among the races that UAE would outright give him leadership in, given how many cooks there are in that kitchen. Of course, there'll be more Spanish races but I do hope he'll start picking up some points there.

I think you have him misunderstood, if that is the case, on what type of rider he is and that he would have leadership for these races.

His case is more about finishing top 20 and top 10 in some stage-races during the season, hopefully he will do some races with a weaker GC-field where he could fight for a top 5 as well.

Ya, he should ideally be sent to races like Tour of Slovenia, Tour of Turkey, Giro del Abruzzo where he was 3rd last year, Sibiu Tour etc. And then a few WT stage races in between.

You can, however, be happy that Brennan is beginning to look like a terrible pick. I guess if he will really ride the Surf Coast Classic and Cadel, there's hope that the Australian adventure does not end like a complete disaster, but tonight and Thursday have definitely been very discouraging.
No-one is a terrible pick on January 24th

Please don't curse it! His crash magnet seems to have been affected by the sun, and is currently heading for his best ever GC result...

And please ride safely and sensibly tomorrow Mr Brenner/Zubeldia.

Fair enough. But one could have hoped for triple digit points from him at Tour Down Under and the schedule that has been announced is less than ideal because the Vuelta blocks a lot of good point scoring opportunities in the autumn. But hopefully, more races will be added.

You have got me worrying that none of my riders scoring any points yet is a bad thing. I was sitting here thinking, no worries, they will all come good in the summer and I will score big. January doesn't matter. Already I am near the bottom of the standings..

Nice one, Matthew! Not all is doom and gloom after all. And with that win, he does in fact clear triple digit points because he also got second on the points classification.

And 130 points for Kron for the week makes him already a very good pick. Nice to see him back.

4th, 5th and 10th on GC was about what I expected going into the week, but when the riders on the podium have been picked 1x, 0x and 0x and you expect your most common GC option (Van Eetvelt) to do best and it’s your rarest one (Brenner) instead, it has to be considered a very good result.

On the other hand, supplementary points have been virtually nonexistent this week. The less said about Lamperti and Taminiaux’ sprinting and UAE’s performance in Spain, the better.

A couple of 3rd place finishes from Pithie was an ok start but disappointing that he was working for Fisher-Black today instead of his own chances when I would have foreseen a top 5 finish again.

I don't love picking the same riders over and over again so I left out Kron (who was on my team in 2022 and 2025). Looks like it's going to be a costly mistake.

What you got against Dinham and Kudus?
I already knew about those guys, I didn't realise zambanini got me the extra 3. Every point counts, we are going to be in a relegation battle. Proud of my riders.

Just to give a little spoiler for this weeks rankings. Every team has now scored at least one point.

Not a bad week Down Under for me. 422* points scored, and Kron into profit!

*Okay, the 5 of those were in Spain.

Next week is not gonna be as good as this one. I got some riders in various places, and hopefully some of them can do... something.

That's pretty unlucky as I was going leave him out for similar reasons, then saw he was bib 1 at The TDU, so decided to take a risk again. This starlist-based 'strategy' has worked very well so far with Brenner, Dinham, O'Connor and Brennan too. Was hoping for a little more from the latter two, but Brennan's surprise win today has hopefully given him the confidence to get some relatively easy points in the upcoming one-day races.

Yep, they had Thornley, Hagenes and Lamperti all getting 5 points each for finishing TDU and Van Gestel 5 from Spain.
Hooray!!!

Edit: and not last!!!
