Update #28: Remco Rakes in the Points as Tour GC is Decided
The belated TdF update is finally out, and as EITB points out above it includes points from the Tour de l'Ain, which finished on July 30th, even though it's labelled the July 26th update. Our CQ Game Creator tests our patience again, but our faith in the CQ system must hold for the sacred purpose of these weekly forum updates. Be strong, game participants! Without further ado:
This Week's Top Scorers
Jon Ezeitza is a clear winner this week, raking in a whopping 1554 points! As often is the case, this is due to a fortuitous mix of fairly rare riders scoring big all at the same time. Chief among those is Remco Evenepoel, who nets 610 on the week for 2nd GC at the Tour as well as various stage and classification placings, to bring him into profit for his 12 owners with an even 2000 points on the season. Jon Ezeitza's 2nd and 3rd most expensive riders are, in turn, the 2nd and 3rd highest scoring on their team this week, with Lenny Martinez (363 points, 2 teams) and Paul Seixas (351, 73) each making both France and Jon Ezeitza proud - not necessarily in that order - with top 5 Tour finishes. Also on the team is Markel Beloki (146, 11) having a great week with a breakthrough win at the Tour de l'Ain. That's all a bonus though, as Jon Ezeitza's lead is such that their team would be in first based off Tour points alone.
In second place in this massive week is JumboVismaFan, who had the Remco/Seixas/Beloki trio, and third is Leadbelly with Remco/Seixas and Juan Ayuso (232, 4). Two other teams not worth mentioning end in 4th and 5th on the week
😉
This Week's High Movers
An interesting week, with about 50 teams scoring between 500-700 points there wasn't much movement overall, but teams with rare picks like Pogi/Remco/Martinez made some serious leaps. Jon Ezeitza doubles up here, and JVF doubles up on the podium, with EITB joining here on a Remco/Seixas ticket.
Green Jersey Competition
Samu gets yet another 16 Green Jersey points this week, marking the 4th straight week of points, which will happen when your team has the GOAT in full stride. This brings Samu's lead to a whopping 89 points in the competition, almost two weekly wins ahead of 2nd place. Further down, Eyeballs Out uses 10 points to leapfrog karaev and DJW, while just off screen EITB jumps to 6th just 11 points out of the top 5.
Top 10 Overall
Not much movement in the top 10 overall as 7 of the 10 teams scored between 500 and 600 points, but the big winner is Eyeballs Out, whose team is the only one in the top 10 to score 1000 on the week, becoming the first team in the game to crack 10,000 on the season as well as leapfrogging slow climber into first overall! Some minor movements further down, and Nyssinator moves into the top 10 at the expense of trackstand.
This upcoming week... is almost done. I guess the update will exclude Tour de l'Ain but will include the GC for Denmark, as well as San Sebastian and the 1.1 Basque race on Sunday.
